Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a place for practice of the Integral Yoga. For those disciples and devotees who are practicing the yoga outside, it is the place of ‘central influence’ from where the Supramental Force radiates in its most intense way. It is also the place that Sri Aurobindo and the Mother chose for their tapasya, in the secret divine dispensation of things. But more than a physical space it is an occult and spiritual space designed to help us progress to the utmost we are ready for. There are of course many other interesting and fascinating aspects of the Ashram life but this is its core. Auroville is the Mother’s experiment on a larger humanity that aspires for unity and harmony, for a higher living beyond the confines of limiting and restricting thought of religions and ideologies.
