On the path of Sri Aurobindo’s yoga, man, holding the divine’s hand, has to experience creation in its entirety. There are no half-way measures here. All must be illumined, refined, uplifted, transformed. Many new possibilities and higher faculties begin to open up enriching and uplifting earth-nature. The difficulty is that when these things come, some parts of the being receive it but some parts always stand in the way and try to oppose and obstruct the Path. Instead of being divinised, man tries to humanise God. But the ways of God can only be understood in the light and understanding of the soul. The mind cannot comprehend spiritual things. That is why The Mother gives so much importance on finding of the soul. In ‘Savitri’, Sri Aurobindo explains how man has tried to find out the ways of God by logics, philosophies, paths and processes. But in vain, as the infinite cannot be caught by anything finite. Though the Divine is himself immanent in the entire creation, in each and every particle so to say, His ways completely baffle us so long as we have not the light of the Soul within us. Faith and sincerity and above all, a complete surrender reveals His workings to an intelligence growing luminous by contact with the Divine.
